Pumpkins

Owen and I had some friends over on Monday to decorate pumpkins and the kids had a great time. But as I was looking at the pictures, I noticed how crazy our fence looks. Ike took out a big portion of it and Teo the lawn guy told us he would re-do it while we were gone. The funny part is we paid for it and got the crappy side of the fence and it TOTALLY doesn't match the rest of it! Teo is such a sweet guy but I'm guessing I may need to intervene in he and Bryan's "conversations" that they have in spanish.

California Vacation

We had a fabulous trip to California this past week. Owen was awesome and loved getting to go to Disney and Legoland. Highlights are below!

This was Owen's first plane ride if you don't count the many, many trips he took while I was pregnant. He loved riding on the plane and had to have the window seat so that he could look out the window. Bryan and Owen being very mature and pretending to throw up in the barf bag

Owen and I outside our hotel in LA.

Owen on Colonel Sanders lap at Universal Walk. There was the cast of a Telemundo movie there and it was madness!!!!!!!!!!! The only place I could get into to get food was a combo Pizza Hut/KFC. And so Owen waited with the Colonel while I stood in line for WAY too long.

On Monday Owen and I made the LONG drive to Legoland. Somehow I didn't realize that it would take so long but was stuck going because it was what Owen was looking forward to the most. We had rented a Jeep for the week and it was so incredibly loud that Owen and I had to scream to hear each other. So it was actually kind of nice to just ride without having to answer a million questions for once :)

Owen loved Legoland. The weather was really cool and there were zero lines so we actually went on just about every ride in a day. He spent all of the money that Mimi and Popi gave him for his birthday on Legos while we were there and played with them every night at the hotel.

Owen walking into Legoland with the Lego family.

Owen being eaten by a giant Lego shark.

Owen and the giant Lego pumpkin.

Owen and Darth Vader. (I'll spare you the pictures of Owen and every single character but he insisted on me getting a picture with each).

Owen and a Bionicle. He made me take this picture so that we could show his cousin Cameron :)

On Tuesday, Owen and I went to the Observatory at Griffith Park to go to the Pleanetarium. It was beautiful up there (despite the LA smog) and we got a view of the entire city. Owen liked the movie at the planetarium and of course had to get a pic with his favorite planet, Uranus :)

That night we went and hung out with Ashley and her family in Santa Monica and it was great to catch up with her and for Owen to get to play with some kids!!

Bryan finished up his conference on Weds around lunchtime and then we drove up the PCH to Malibu and hung out at the beach. It was chilly but absolutely beautiful!!! We saw dolphins swimming out in the water and Owen of course ended up soaking wet.

Owen in our Jeep that he projectile vomited in on the way to drop it back off. Long story........

Thursday and Friday were spent at Disneyland and Owen had a blast. The weather was perfect and the lines were super short which was perfect for a four year old. On Friday we ended up at the park until midnight and Owen got to see the fireworks show. It was a fantastic trip and I can't wait for our next vacation!!!

We're home!!!

We had a FANTASTIC trip in California but are very thankful to be home! We had an interesting travel day home today which involved a missed flight and Owen getting very car sick but in the end we made it back to Texas without too many problems. Many pictures will be coming soon of our adventures in CA. To the right is a picture of Owen and I waiting for the bus to our hotel last night at around 1 am. I of course am exhausted and Owen is still ready to go!

When did he get so big??????

I just looked at this picture and it struck me how Owen is totally a big kid now! Nevermind the ever present goofy expression, but he looks like such a kid now and not a toddler/preschooler. The haircut has a lot to do with it I know but it's hard to beleive in less than a year he'll be in school every day, all day. We're headed to LA on Sunday and Owen is so excited about the trip :)

Owen's favorite video

He is my strange, strange child who has asked to watch this many times today.

Can anyone guess what Owen's going to be for Halloween?

There's one part of the costume missing in this picture and the bag is turned all the way around, but here is Owen's costume. Any guesses as to who he is supposed to be????

Old friends and new houses

Owen had another soccer game this weekend and it's always fun to watch a bunch of four year olds chase a ball and attempt to play soccer. We then headed over to visit a good friend of mine from high school with whom I've recently reconnected. Kristen and I talked for hours while her son Ethan kept Owen entertained. It was really good to catch up with her and we're really looking forward to getting to spend some time with them now that we live close by.

Ethan, Saige, and Owen

On Sunday we went to see Lita's new house. It's almost done and Owen made sure the builders did a good job by checking out every detail. Here he is inspecting the tub in the master bath. Notice the coy look. This was totally Owen's idea and he made me take several to make sure we got a good one. Interesting....

I am officially my mother

Mimi has had a Christmas village for years and has endured plenty of good natured kidding about it over the years. I never thought I would be the village type but lo and behold we are now the proud owners of a Halloween village. The pic doesn't do it justice because it really is cool! Owen and I were in Garden Ridge the other day on our 47th trip to find stuff for his party and saw that all of it was 50% off. So.....we just couldn't pass the bargain up :) The entire time that I was loading our overflowing cart full of village stuff I kept saying, "your father is going to kill me!". Owen's response was "if he's REALLY mad, we'll just take it all back". The funny thing is, Bryan doesn't care and never gets mad.

Preparations for Owen's Halloween birthday party are on. We actually make it into a two month event to shop, figure out decorations, food, etc. I figure that he won't think an at home party is cool forever so I need to take advantage of it while I can!!

And just because, a pic of Owen in the bouncer. He thought it would be a great idea to put our inside cats in the bouncer in the backyard. They were not so entertained and Num Nums quickly figure out how to claw her way up the netting to escape.

Thanks Jenn!

Again, the video is blurry for some reason but Owen wanted to thank Jenn for the Halloween present :)

Jenn is the bestest!

Jenn always sends Owen fabulous gifts for his birthday and the other day we got a package in the mail just for Halloween. It was a pumpkin filled with cookies. Halloween and sugar pretty much defines what Owen loves right now :) She sent him the inflatable Frankenstein to the left when he was almost 3. He LOVES that thing and despite the fact that it's probably against some rule in the Woodlands, we of course had to put it up! Thanks Jenn, you really are the best :)

A thank you video should be up soon!
